Killer Kurves

WARNING: What You Are About To See Is Disturbing, Watch Only If You Are Ready For Change

Every once in awhile a video or article comes out that gives me goosebumps and fires me up to fight the fight of helping families get in better shape.

The video you are about to watch has done that more then anything else I have ever seen. We can’t wait another day to take action and create change, we deserve better and your kids deserve better.

Depending on where you are at in your life, this movie will stir up different emotions. You might feel a sense of relief that your struggles with your health and weight were something that started when you were an innocent child and that is really wasn’t your fault. Others might feel very blessed that they came from a home where cooking healthy meals from scratch was an everyday occurrence (that is me). Maybe you have tears streaming down your face because you are that mom or dad right now, busy and stretched thin and consistently giving your kids the foods and drinks that will one day land them on the ER table. Possibly your kids are out of the home now and guilt of how you raised them is welling up in your heart and regret fills your body, you wish you would have known what you know do.

An emotion I have right now is anger towards the processed food industry and how they target kids so much early on in their most impressionable years. No matter your emotion, I want to turn this into a positive. The good news is that your future can be infinitely better then your past. You have access to knowledge and tools that can change your life, the lives of your kids, and grandkids. The only catch is that you have to invest the time into learning about the tools and then APPLYING those tools into your families life.

At Fit Moms For Life we are very proud of the programs and tools we have created over the past 10 years. We believe they are not only based off of science, but also made practical in the real world. In other words, doable for a crazy busy person like yourself.

For the past year and a half we launch a new Killer Kurve’s session each quarter. The stories of transformation through this specific program are too numerous to share, but this is one of the only programs I have ever seen that focuses solely on overweight and obese people who are looking for a radical change in their life, without having to go on a radical eating or exercise plan. In other words we help you make small manageable choices that create massive long term change. In fact this program is so unique and powerful we are in the running to receive national grant money from the NIH to study this specific program even deeper.

Why does it work so well? It was created by trainers who were formerly obese. It was created with the deep understandings of what someone 40-200 lbs overweight goes through on an everyday basis and what they are thinking. It wasn’t created by some fit trainer who has never has an ounce of body fat, or from a scientist behind a computer who is solely looking at all the research papers.

Our team of trainers who specializes in Killers Kurves has expanded. Besides Liz (the co-creator of the program who lost over 60 lbs), we have added Shelley and Monique who have both been through the program and are now paying it forward (Monique has lost 152 lbs so far).

We understand that change is really hard and that not everyday is going to be great. That is why we focus on community and accountability to celebrates the successes and encourage each other during the defeats.

Inspiring story of how one woman lost 48lbs and continues to lose!

Do you have significant weight to lose and feel overwhelmed as to where to start?

Are you the caretaker for many people in your life and find that you’re constantly putting yourself last on the list?

If so, you are really going to enjoy the interview I have for you today! Jody, first started with our FM4L 6 Week Challenge (available to anyone in the world), and then transitioned into our fast growing Killer Kurves program, also known as K2.

Jody has an infectious smile and personality that brightens up the room. I am so proud of her on-going transformational journey and her dedication to this lifestyle change!

Here is the interview with Jody:

Share a little bit about yourself and your background with your health and fitness.

I swam competitively since I was 5 years old through high school. Also, I started running long distance on the track and field team in junior high through my junior year in high school. I kept up my fitness routine in college, as I didn’t want to gain the dreaded “Freshmen 15”. I was really good my first two years of college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; however, when I transferred to University of Oregon, I gained the “Junior 20”. I have always been cautious about my health and my weight, as my father had diabetes and we watched what we ate as a family. Everywhere I have lived I have joined a gym (usually at the start of a new year). I would go for awhile, until I was bored or didn’t see any results.

Where was your life before being introduced to FM4L and Killer Kurves?

2First off, I am a people pleaser and go with the flow kind of gal. The last time I really wanted to lose weight was in 2006 when I went through a bunch of medical tests to make sure I was healthy enough to give my dad a kidney. He had diabetes and was on dialysis at the time. It is amazing what you can do when you put your mind into it.

So in June 2006, I donated my kidney to my dad. It was great recovering with him over the next month and to watch his energy come back. I would love to say that he is doing great today; however, he passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack in 2010. It was shocking and very hard on my whole family.

In the 4 years after his death, I have gained quite a bit of weight as I was always thinking about how my mom was doing and not really caring about myself. Since my siblings all had significant others and kids, it was up to me to be strong for my mom. I didn’t want her to worry about me as I was alone and didn’t have anyone to lean on during this tough time, so I would visit her every weekend for a couple of months, just to be with her. Over these years I found out that she is one of the strongest women I know and I so admire her.

I knew I really needed to work on my health as I would get depressed and not really care how I looked. I would enjoy my time just chilling at home and not going anywhere where people would see me. My mom was very supportive and would kindly remind me to take better care of myself but I really didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know how to change my mind and attitude, until I went to visit my doctor in 2013 for a checkup and she listed obesity as a health issue in my chart.

I had avoided going to the doctor for many years, as I didn’t want to be reminded about my weight. This time, I wanted the Dr. to tell me I was healthy and surprise, I was told I had a disease of obesity, which I could fix. Your program has helped me better my life. I can do something for myself and not feel guilty about it. Now, I feel that I’m really living my life instead of just existing here on Earth.

How did you hear about my program? What were your initial thoughts? Where you skeptical?

I heard about your 6-Week Challenge program through my work. You came for an informative lunch-N-learn discussion. At first I wasn’t going to attend, it was Fit Moms for Life and I wasn’t a mom. I asked one of my co-workers, who invited me to go to the lunch and learn with her, why I would attend something that wasn’t relative to me since I’m not a mom. She explained that it wasn’t just for moms – it is for anyone who wants to improve their health, so I went to your talk, joined the FM4L challenge and it has changed my life!

I walked into my work’s cafeteria bright and early on that Tuesday morning excited, nervous, anxious, and definitely not knowing what I was getting myself into. At first, I didn’t think this program would be any different than any other weight loss program I tried. I figured it was just for 6 weeks. I can try any program for 6 weeks. I still remember waking up the next day after the first workout and I could barely walk. My whole body was so sore and it was so hard to getting up from my office chair. I kept telling myself that it is a good hurt and that my body is waking up.

As you were in the program what were you enjoying? What were some of the challenges you had to overcome?

1I really enjoyed actually moving my body again with a big group and learning different exercises. I also enjoyed learning more about myself and why I was actually attending the program through the weekly questions. I also liked the Fit Moms for Life wristbands which were provided. I believe that having that physical reminder on me has helped me stay with the program and make it a true lifestyle change. I loved going through this journey with others and sharing my successes and struggles. In the past, I would always try to tackle my weight loss by myself as I would only disappoint myself and not let others down if I didn’t follow through.

I have come to realize the importance of community and especially being part of the right community, where you feel comfortable sharing your journey. When I started the 6-week challenge in May, I didn’t feel comfortable or safe to share as much with that community, as they were on a different journey and had different goals then me.

This all changed when I started Killer Kurves, where I was among people who knew the struggles and hardships of trying to lose weight. It is so refreshing to have the right people around me for help with my struggles. The K2 program has helped me open up more to people and to feel more confident and proud of myself.

How is your life different now than it was before being introduced to my program?

I can’t believe how much I have grown in strength and confidence over these past 6 months and I’ve realized that this journey is not just about my weight loss. As of today, I have lost 48 pounds and over 25 inches (10 inches just on my abdomen!). It is a good start to my journey, but I’m not done yet. I am more positive now at work and not so negative in daily situations. With the weight loss, when I smile, my dimples are showing more and I’m loving that.

How has other areas in your life improved besides losing weight and toning up?

My work environment has become more positive and I’m not dreading going to work these days. I’m becoming more talkative and opening up more to people. One of the big improvements in my life is having my spiritual life back. I have had a strong relationship with God previously; however, it changed when my dad died. I was very honored to be the one to give my dad a kidney to make his life better – I thought that was my purpose in life. When Dad died suddenly, I was very angry with God . I’m happy that I have that relationship back in my life these days.

How has the reaction been with your friends and family. Do they treat you differently? Do they try to sabotage your results? How have you handled all of that?

It is really awesome that people at work are noticing. It has been exciting that people are coming up to me saying that I’m looking good and noticing my hard work. At first, I would take the compliments but not really acknowledge them, as I knew I had a long way to go until I hit my ideal goal weight. Now, I’m very proud people are noticing and thanking them for saying something. I’m embracing the change.

How has your eating improved? What is your eating like now?

Before the program, I would rarely bring in a lunch to work and if I did it would always be a frozen dinner. Living alone, I would go to fast food places on my way home from work for dinner. I would rarely cook dinner for myself. I didn’t eat many veggies, I usually reached for fruit if I was thinking about eating something healthy.

With the program, I have learn so much about nutrition and continue to learn more. The main nutritional change I have made is making sure I eat a protein or fat with a carb – no eating carbs alone anymore. Today, I enjoy planning and preparing my meals daily, including my snacks. I learned that I need to plan and prep all my meals for the week on the weekend or I make really bad choices with my eating during the week.

Examples of my breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks today are the following:

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs in butter with wheat toast or Greek yogurt with granola and honey

Lunch: mixed green salad with multiple veggies, baked chicken leftovers from dinner

Dinner: Eat leftovers from previous night or make another recipe.

(My favorite recipes from the FM4L 6 week challenge are: sloppy joes with romaine lettuce, chicken enchilada bake and turkey chili)

Snacks: string cheese with sliced cucumbers or almond butter with apple or cottage cheese (2%) with carrots

Lastly, your best friend comes up to you and is considering joining the program you were just on. What would you say to them?

I love Killer Kurves and the support and encouragement I get from everyone there, especially from the trainers Monique and Shelley. They make me believe I can do these workouts and deserve my sweat 🙂 I love the community it brings me and how they motivate me to continue on my journey. I feel I can be myself with everyone there and they accept me for me. Even though I will continue to be nervous driving to the Transformation Center, I have embraced that feeling knowing that I’m improving myself one day at a time.

Thank you Jody for sharing your on-going K2 journey with us. I know you inspire others with your dedication and commitment. Jody is an ordinary person who made a commitment. The commitment wasn’t just to lose weight – the commitment was to sign up and show up. That is all I ask from you. This program works! Showing up and becoming part of this community is hard to describe until you are in it. Just take the chance and join K2. You deserve this-do it for yourself!

A powerful story…can you relate?

Sure, I talk about it a lot because it is what many look to as a measure for success, but I don’t really care about how much weight you lose – I care about how much you growth you experience.

Weight loss is a by product of growth…

I view myself less and less as a fitness professional and trainer and more as a growth specialist. “If you aren’t growing, you are dying.” I can’t agree more with this famous quote! When I sit down with clients, many times it becomes clear they feel stuck. Sometimes they aren’t happy in their careers or their marriages are struggling and they just don’t feel good about themselves. In many cases, these people have stopped growing and are merely existing as time passes by. Fortunately, by the time I meet with them, they have realized they want more out of their lives and are seeking help.

This is what gets us trainers at the Fit Moms Transformation Center so pumped up…to see people fully living.

Before I share with you a really awesome story about a Killer Kurves client named Ivy (she has lost well over 65 lbs and her husband about the same, but again that weight loss is just a by-product of their growth), I want to invite anyone who has 40 or more lbs to lose to join our next Killer Kurve 12 week sessionI can honestly say there isn’t a program like Killer Kurves in the world. It is so hard to explain in words what makes this program so special and unique, it is something that needs to be experienced.

The K2 video on the above link will give you a glimpse into this amazing community. This photo shows how much fun this group has together, too!

Here is Ivy’s story that she gave me permission to share from a recent Facebook post she wrote:

This last year I have really pushed myself to try things that I have been afraid of. Some of the big ones that really stand all have to do with my fear of heights; I climbed the fire tower at Blue Mounds (and hello open stair backs! I have a ridiculous fear of those too, but it induces vertigo also) I went down the howling tornado at the Great Wolf Lodge and I went skiing a couple of weeks ago. So obviously, I’m kinda a big chicken and I really do not like to take risks pretty much at all. My husband has been asking me to ski with him for years and years. I have always said no and in addition to being pretty terrified of the chair lift, I had a pretty valid excuse in being afraid that I would hurt my back. I have broken several vertebrae in my sacrum and by my hip joints twice in the last 11 years. The second time it happened it was a pretty terrifying ordeal and it caused a lot of mental anxiety because I missed out on some really, really important things with my children. I’m very terrified of not being able to walk again and to participate in life with my kids. I have let that fear dominate a lot of choices the last 6 years. I gave up a lot of things. I stopped trying things. Last year I started K2 and Liz taught me how to listen to my body as she also guided me through my first 9 months of classes. Sometime during that period I found some confidence in my body again (lost that totally when it failed me!) and I told my husband that I would try skiing with him ‘next year.’ Funny thing about time is that it seemed so far away and then suddenly next year was here and now and I had to either go back on my word or suck it up buttercup and give it a try. So I tried it. I was terrified. I was shaking and my palms were sweating. Ben got me up to the top of the bunny hill (seriously, its like a mound at Cascade, its not even steep enough to be a sledding hill!) and I started to cry. I was so damned scared. I could only envision falling over and over and over again. I did not know how to get past that fear. It felt like it had taken over my mind and body. I’m not sure how long I stood there off to the side watching all these little kids try it out, including my 3 year old son shrieking with delight to go faster. I finally got up the nerve to get down that hill (mound) and slowly went back and forth down the hill with my feet wedged as wide as I could get them to go as slow as possible. When I got to the bottom, I figured I was done and told my husband so. He said that was fine and he was really proud of me for trying because he knew how scared I was. Then as I started to head back to the lodge my older son asked me where I was going and then asked if he could teach me to ski. Sh*t. I really, really wanted to go inside. He was so sincere, and I have a really hard time letting my kids down. I wanted to try again and I wanted him to be proud of me too. So he patiently talked me back onto the magic carpet and up the hill over and over again. And I started to feel more comfortable. And then he decided I needed to go up the Schoolmarm and ride the chairlift. He knew I could do it, how could I doubt what he knew? Long story short, by the end of the day I had tried a few different hills, and even rode the terrifyingly fast chairlift. I loved it! I’m excited to go again and share something fun and active with my entire family. And I’m really proud of myself for stepping out of that comfort zone and not just trying it, but really pushing myself to do it all the way.

I have hundreds of similar stories I could share from clients like Ivy who have gained confidence in themselves and in their bodies. They are inspiring examples of people fully living!

For 2015, I hope that you will never need to question whether your body is healthy or fit enough to do whatever it is you want to do. No limitations!

Single mom ready to end it all, chooses life

By | Killer Kurves, Lifestyle, Mindset, Nutrition, Strength, Uncategorized

I knew Onica was a special person the day I met her. I only had about 20 minutes to get to know her, but I could see deep hurt within her and yet I also sensed she was a strong, determined woman that was ready to give it her all.

Fast forward about two months and I was sitting at the Transformation Center going through my e-mail when I received the testimonial you are about to read. The crazy thing about reading this e-mail that night was that Onica was standing about 15 feet in front of me, waiting for her Killer Kurves class to start. After you read her heartfelt story, click here to learn more about how Killer Kurves can help you or a loved one. Even if you don’t live near Madison, the video alone is worth 5 minutes to watch. ->-> Click here to watch the video

Take it away Onica….!

My name is Onica and I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I have gained and lost and lost and gained more times than I care to count. In high chool my diet of choice was Anorexia, I would eat nothing all day and then have just enough dinner so that my parents wouldn’t notice something was off. I kept the weight off until I was 25 and went from jobs where I stood all day and rarely ate breakfast or lunch to a desk job where it seemed like someone wanted to take everyone out to lunch daily. The pounds piled on quickly after that. I had my son at 26 and never lost the baby weight. Two years later I had my daughter and 6 weeks after she was born I joined a weight loss program. I did great and was 7 pounds from my goal when self destruction kicked in. We had recently moved an hour away from our hometown and I knew no one, I was a stay at home mom and it was winter. I learned that I love to bake and more than that I loved to eat what I baked. Again, the pounds piled on, I was more than I had ever weighed, even when I was pregnant.

Fast forward 2 more years, I was now a divorced, single mom trying to make ends meet. It wasn’t easy to say the least. Every small bump in my life made me feel like I was sinking deeper and deeper into a pit that I was never going to be able to claw my way out of. I felt that every single aspect of my life was just too much for me to handle, that nothing I did was good enough, or could possibly be worth anything to anyone, that my kids would be better off if I weren’t around. What kind of a role model was I for them? Wouldn’t it just be better for them if they didn’t grow up with a mom like me, someone who never had any time or energy for them, whose house wasn’t spic and span and who was fat? I had a plan to end it all, I didn’t have a time frame, but I had a plan. It would have appeared to have been an accident so that my ex would still get the life insurance to use for raising the kids and above all no one else would be injured and my kids wouldn’t be the ones to find me. I had a plan.

Then on September 5th an email came into my inbox from Dustin. It was about a 21 day clean eating challenge. My sister told me that she and her husband were going to take the challenge and that I should do it with them. I decided to go for it. Part of that was to meet with Dustin in person to discuss your weight loss challenges and goals etc. That day changed my life, more accurately, that day saved my life. After I gave a short run down on my weight history Dustin told me about his Killer Kurves program, I didn’t think there was any way I could make it work for me financially or with my schedule so I tried to just forget about it. However it seemed that nothing would make the thought of this program leave my head. It sounded so perfect for me. After several days of not being able to stop thinking about it I rearranged my schedule with my kids, worked out a financial plan and I signed up. I can honestly say that signing up for K2 was the best decision I have ever made for myself.

On our first night I was nervous but excited. Everyone there seemed to be in the same boat. The trainers were very friendly and accommodating to everyone’s fitness level and any physical limitations we had. The people were all super friendly and no one was judging anyone else. As the weeks have gone on we have formed a bond with each other, the support and encouragement is like nothing else I have ever experienced. We have turned into a family of sorts and I love it, I can’t imagine my life without K2 now.

One of the things that I have learned to do is to view food as fuel for my body and not a hobby or way to relieve stress. I won’t put a certain brand of gasoline in my car because it gets terrible gas mileage with it so why did I continue to put food in my body that was terrible for my health and energy? It has really changed the way I look at eating.

We are currently starting our 9th week of the 12 week program and I have lost 29.2 pounds and 14 inches. My self esteem is on the way back up and the pride in myself that I feel is amazing! The little things no longer throw me to the bottom of the pit and I am smiling more than I have in years. I’m not where I want to be yet but I am a whole lot closer and more importantly I now have the support, knowledge, and confidence in myself to keep going towards that goal and not to just give up because of a setback or hard day.

If there is anyone out there that is on the fence about joining Killer Kurves, I say do whatever it takes to make it happen! You will not be disappointed. I know I’m not. Your life will never be the same again.

Wow! When I first read her story I was so moved, I got teary eyed. Since she was also at the TC that night, I went over to her and gave her a big, long hug. I had no idea of her struggles or how Killer Kurves has given her a new lease on life. Her physical and emotional transformation is an inspiration!

Onica, I am beyond excited to see you continue to progress and am excited for the boundless opportunities life has in store for you. Thank you for courageously sharing your story.

At first I thought about only sending this out to those of you living in the Madison area, but I decided to send it out to the 10,000s around the world who receive my newsletter and follow Fit Moms For Life. Sometimes, we are all guilty of focusing too much on weight loss, but these testimonial quotes you are about to read will help us be more mindful of the many other benefits that come with living a healthy lifestyle.

Weight loss is just a by-product, or a result , of other areas in a person’s life improving.

Killer Kurves is the most comprehensive, effective, in-person weight loss program I know of, and we are starting a new session this coming week. I’m super excited about this new session, but the bad news is, time is running out and we only have a couple spots open in both the AM and PM time slots.

If you are interested in being surrounded by others who are also looking to make life transformations and lose 40-200 lbs, then you will want to sign up right now because time is running out!

Please read the following quotes from clients who are current Killer Kurves members or are alumni of the program. The program has been so transformational, that over 90% join us for the alumni program after their initial 12 weeks.

“Since I’ve started K2 I’ve been migraine free! I suffered from severe chronic migraines and was on 2 different medications to help with them. The medications had some undesirable side effects too. Well recently I’ve been able to discontinue all medications because I haven’t gotten any migraines! Definitely from exercising and eating healthier.”

“Before K2 I was overwhelmed often with a feeling of anxiety and life just being too much (caused by out of control hormones and way too much cortisol in my system perhaps?) That feeling is gone. I feel good and miss workouts because I feel even better after them — physically and emotionally.”

“I’ve gained confidence in myself and my ability to make healthy choices.”

“I’ve learned to be nicer to myself.”

“I have made some friends that are on the same journey as me who will help me continue.”

“I got my groove back!”

“I have gained strength and confidence in myself that I can do it! “

“I have gained strength that I didn’t even know I missed. And a whole new outlook on my life to go along with it. More confidence, more happiness.”

Our Killer Kurves program includes access to a private Facebook group that has dozens of inspirational posts and comments each day. With their permission, I have a few that I would like to share with you….

Theresa lost a staggering 12 inches off her belly. As you know, belly fat is the most dangerous fat. Assuming she keeps it off, this statistically will extend her life by many years. How much $$ is that worth to you?

Ivy has lost over 50 lbs with Killer Kurves and had a “strange” experience earlier this month…

Ebony is just finishing up her first 12 week session with Killer Kurve’s and will be joining the “Alumni” program next. She is shedding fat like it is going out of style.

Jennifer is a beautiful single mom on a limited budget. She is doing everything she can to make sure her and her incredible sons have a healthy future together.

Cheryl is a determined woman who took the leap and is reaping the results. Losing weight is just one of the many benefits that come with Killer Kurves.

Great job everyone and thank you for letting me share these quotes and posts. You have undoubtedly inspired many others to make a change!

I am so confident in our Killer Kurves program, I am willing to refund you the entire fee if you come for the first month and aren’t completely happy with the program. How Eric lost 110lbs (and his wife 60lbs!)

By | Behavior Change, Health, Killer Kurves, Mindset, Strength, Uncategorized

Many people don’t realize that Killer Kurves, the comprehensive weight loss program we offer at the Transformation Center, is open to men too.

Below, one of our Killer Kurves alumni, Eric, shares his incredible weight loss journey. In two short years he went from almost going under the knife for gastric bypass, to deciding to lose weight with a more natural approach while inspiring his family to also live the active, healthy lives of their dreams!

Here is Eric’s story…

Food has always been a huge part of my life. I celebrated with food, I coped with food, and I even tried to eat away my anxieties. I would celebrate losing weight by treating myself to a sugary dessert. Sadness would be staved off by food, leading to feeling guilty for overeating. That guilt would equal more eating. I was locked in a downward spiral of weight gain and wild weight swings. I jumped from diet fad to diet fad but nothing worked for me, especially with my incredibly sedentary lifestyle. Every day I could see the scale tipping slowly higher and higher.

One day I woke up and realized I had had enough. I went to my doctor to set up a gastric bypass surgery. Based on my previous failures I couldn’t see another way out. I was warned of the risks involved but all I could see was how little those risks seemed to be when held up against my unhealthy lifestyle and how that would affect not just me, but my entire family. I plunged forward fully intent on seeing the surgery through. The good news (although I didn’t see it as that at the time) was that I could not just go directly to surgery and be done. I had to prove to the insurance company that I didn’t have the ability to lose weight on my own.

So I started trying to be healthy on my own and I made little victories here and there. Somehow I found that I was succeeding. Little by little, the weight started to come off. I think subconsciously I knew that I didn’t want to do the bypass and that I had to make a change for the better. I kept at it for a while but eventually my progress stalled. I started to fall back to old habits.

That’s when I started working with K2.

My wife, Nicole had joined the Killer Kurves program and was doing wonderfully. She was slimming down, eating healthier, and was full of energy. Essentially, she was the exact opposite of me. I have to admit that even though she was succeeding, I didn’t want to try it. I saw her getting up incredibly early and exercising with people she didn’t know. Quite honestly, it scared me. I didn’t want to be laughed at or let people see me fail. Thankfully my wife convinced me to join the group.

Since I have joined K2, my life has changed drastically. While I still dislike getting up early, I found that K2 is filled with some of the most positive, supportive people that I have ever met. All of my fears were for nothing. Having people that support me, even in trying times, has been great and I have actually found myself liking the exercise. I never thought that I would say that. While I still lapse in my eating habits sometimes, I have learned so much about eating healthy and how that affects me. It has been a uniquely positive experience.

Additionally, K2 has helped my entire family. My wife and I are trying our best to set healthy examples for our children. At the same time my brother and his family have gotten into the health kick after seeing our success. It’s fantastic when we see each other and can honestly say that we look like different people.

Best of all, K2 has set me on a continued path of success. As of today I have lost over 110 pounds since my starting weight. That’s six(!) pants sizes I have dropped. It’s hard to fathom that I have lost more weight than two of my children combined and it feels great. I still have a ways to go but this is something that I never thought was remotely possible. I cannot stress how positive K2 has been for me.

If you are reading this and you’re telling yourself you can’t do it or you are afraid to try it, I can only say that is exactly what I said to myself a little over a year ago. You can do it and you shouldn’t be afraid. And if you are, that’s okay, because the K2 community will support you so you succeed and help you to not be afraid.

Give K2 a shot!

Thanks so much, Eric for being vulnerable and sharing your story. I have goosebumps reading this and I know you have also inspired thousands of people who will read this e-mail. Thank you.

If you live in WI, our next K2 session starts in about one week. Click here to watch a video featuring Eric’s wife, along with 6 other Killer Kurves Alumni who have lost massive amounts of weight and transformed their lives.

What Choices Are You Making For Your Future?

By | Behavior Change, Fit Moms for Life Six Week Challenge, Health, Killer Kurves, Mindset, Moms, Mothers, Nutrition, Uncategorized

The other day I shared with you a powerful video that demonstrates what can happen over time when someone consistently makes poor choices. Click here if you missed it. The hundreds of small choices we make each day determine how our lives will look in the future. These daily choices also affect how healthy our body and the bodies of our family will look and feel. Often, it is only in hindsight that we can see how our disease and sickness started or where our health and wellness began.

Can I just be real with you for a moment?

Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t really like most fitness magazine headlines portray. It isn’t as easy as the infomercial marketers make it sound.

  • Living a healthy lifestyle is hard… Really Hard.
  • Asking for help is hard.
  • Struggling alone is hard.
  • Committing to a 12-week program is hard.
  • Spending money on you for a weight loss program is hard.
  • Paying medical bills for weight induced health issues is hard.
  • Change is hard.
  • Being overweight is hard.

I recently heard a quote that I really resonated with, not sure who said it. “Those who do the hard things now will live an easy life, and those who do the easy things now will live a hard life.” Choose your hard now.

In the upcoming couple weeks you will be hearing from some people who are just like you. They have crazy busy lives, money isn’t always abundant, and they are involved in many different activities with their kids, grandkids, and coworkers. But, they chose to take the “hard” road and make the hard choices and now they are looking at a future that is far brighter than their past.

That is my wish for you – I want you to have a greater, brighter future than your past.

If you live in the Madison area and are 40 lbs or more overweight and are ready to change and choose a different, life changing “hard”, I would like to invite you to join our next Killer Kurves session that starts the week of September 28th. We have expanded to include weekend and evenings for those who can’t make early mornings work.

If you live in Madison and don’t qualify for this program but are ready for change, email me at and share your story and I will give you some guidance.

Lastly, if you live outside of the Madison area, my team and I have created an amazing program that is based off the Killer Kurves program. It is called the FM4L 6 Week Challenge and over the past year the program has transformed nearly 1,000 women. We have recently launched a digital only version for only $47.

If you are on the fence about K2 and have a few specific questions, I am committing my time to calling you personally to answer your questions. I believe so firmly in this program that I want to do all I can to give you the opportunity to experience your transformation. Email me at with your phone number and a little bit about yourself and I’ll look forward to talking with you soon!

What you are about to see is disturbing – watch only if you are ready for change.

Every once in a while a video or article comes out that gives me goosebumps and fires me up to fight the fight of helping families regain their health. The video you are about to watch got me fired up like no other viral video I have ever seen. We can’t wait another day to take action and create change, we deserve better and so does the next generation.

Depending on where you are in your life journey, this video will stir up different types of emotions. You might feel a sense of relief that your struggles with your health and weight actually began when you were an innocent child and that your current issues really isn’t your fault. Or, you may feel very blessed that you came from a home where cooking healthy meals from scratch was an everyday occurrence (that is me). Maybe you have tears streaming down your face because you are that mom or dad right now, busy and stretched thin and consistently giving your kids the food and drink that will one day land them on the ER table. Possibly, your kids are out of the home now and guilt is welling up in your heart and regret fills your body because you wish you had known what you do now and raised them differently when it comes to food.

An emotion I have right now is anger; anger towards the processed food industry and how they target kids so early on – during their most impressionable years. No matter your emotion, the good news is that your future can be infinitely better than your past. You have access to knowledge and tools that can change your life, the lives of your kids, and your grandkids. There is a catch though, you have to invest the time into learning the tools and then APPLY these tools into your family’s life.

At Fit Moms For Life we are very proud of the programs and tools we have created over the past 10 years. Our programs are based in science and research, but are practical solutions that work in the real world we live in today. In other words – Fit Moms For Life programs really are doable, even for a crazy busy person like yourself.

Over the past year and a half we have launched a new Killer Kurve’s session each quarter. The stories of transformation through this specific program are incredible. This is one of the only programs I have ever seen that focuses solely on overweight and obese people who are looking for a radical change in their life, that doesn’t require a radical eating or exercise plan. In Killer Kurves, we help you make small, manageable choices that create massive, long term change.

Why does this program work so well?

Killer Kurves wasn’t created by some fit trainer who has never had an ounce of body fat, or from a scientist behind a computer who is looking only at all the research papers. Killer Kurves was created by trainers who were formerly obese. It was created with the true understanding of what someone 40-200 lbs overweight goes through on an everyday basis and how they struggle. Our team of trainers who specialize in Killers Kurves has expanded. Besides Liz (the co-creator of the program who lost over 60 lbs), we have added Shelley and Monique who have both been through the program, lost weight and changed their lives and are now paying it forward.

We understand that making true change is really difficult and that not everyday is going to be easy. That is why Killer Kurves focuses on community and accountability – to celebrate the successes and encourage each other through the struggles.

We are launching new weekend and evening time slots for our Killer Kurves program. Until now, you needed to get up at 5 AM to come to Killer Kurves, but now we are offering weekend and evening options as well. Sure you might have to work around your family’s schedule a bit, but just think about how your family is going to benefit long term (remember we don’t want your son or daughter on that ER table 30 years from now).

The Dirty 4 Letter F-word

By | Behavior Change, Body Assessment, Challenge, Health, Killer Kurves, Moms, Mothers, Nutrition, Transformations, Uncategorized

I hope you are enjoying this unseasonably cool weather we are having this week!

The past handful of days I have listened to about 14 hours of podcasts and read several books, and I have discovered that in all the content I’m listening to and reading about, there is an underlining theme of the importance of overcoming our fears.

I am going to keep this short today, but I would like to challenge you to take a few minutes and explore an area of your life where fear is holding you back from your true potential. Create a plan to make small changes and improvements in this area of your life. As you make these small changes you will create small “wins.” These small wins will create momentum, and the momentum will create confidence, and the confidence will create results and help eliminate that F-word, fear.

It has been awesome getting to know the new members in our Killer Kurves program this past week. There was one woman who came up to me after class today and shared with me that she cried all the way home after her first workout because she was completely overwhelmed at how far she had let herself go. Only a week later she is far more optimistic and committed to making difficult, necessary changes so she can get the results she desperately wants for her life.

With the level of commitment she has already demonstrated, I am very confident she will crush her goals!  For this woman, signing up for K2 was her first step towards conquering her fears and building a better life for herself. She even asked her family and friends to chip in a few dollars to help cover the cost so that she could afford the program. Way to step up with an action step and not make excuses!

What area of your life are you going to make a change in with that first action step? What fear are you ready to conquer?

How One Woman Lost Over 100 lbs (Case Study)

By | Behavior Change, Body Assessment, Fit Moms for Life Six Week Challenge, Killer Kurves, Mindset, NBC Morning Segments, Nutrition, Transformation Center, Uncategorized

I had a fun weekend celebrating my (late) birthday with many clients at a local area pool and finished the night up with fireworks. Great times!

jenniferI’d like to share with you an incredible transformation story. Jennifer came to my program with the desire to lose at least 100 lbs before she had kids. Over the course of 18 months she did just that through the support of our programs.

Click here to check out her story from a local news station >>>

If you have a significant amount of weight to lose and have tried unsuccessfully in the past, I want to give you my #1 tip to be successful and lose and keep the weight off this next time around. Surround yourself with people who have already lost significant amount of weight and kept it off and/or join people who are going through a weight loss program together that has proven success rates.

This is why our Killer Kurves program works so well in Madison… We don’t teach anything extreme or crazy, we teach fundamentals slowly over time so that the 20 people who are all on the K2 journey together, will challenge and encourage each other each and every day as we follow our motto: Come As You Are. I want to remind those of you in the Madison area that we only have a handful of spots left for our next 12 week Killer Kurves (K2) session. If you have a BMI of 30 or greater, you qualify for K2, our most comprehensive weight loss program that starts a new session on July 7th.

Click here to watch an inspiring 3 minute video and to check what your BMI is

Almost every day I get emails from people who are bummed that there isn’t a K2 type program in their community. Here’s the good news… we used the success and curriculum of the Killer Kurves program and packaged it into a Fit Moms For Life 6 Week Challenge.

5 Secrets to Help You Lose 50 Pounds or more (or those last 10 pounds!)

By | Behavior Change, Body Assessment, Challenge, Fit Moms for Life Six Week Challenge, Killer Kurves, Mindset, Transformations, Uncategorized

I’m super excited because one of my favorite programs that we offer at the TC, Killer Kurves, is now taking applications for our next 12-week session which starts July 7th!

This is the best, most comprehensive program we’ve ever created for helping clients lose significant amounts of weight (50 lbs or more). Right now this program is only being offered locally in Madison, but we have a similar 6 Week Fit Moms For Life program that is being offered all around the world. The FM4L program has had incredible weight loss success as well and uses the same eating, exercise, and mindset principles as our Killer Kurves program.

->->Click here to start your 6 Week Challenge <-<-

As I prepared for this Killer Kurves (K2) launch, I spent quite a bit of time personally chatting with the dozens of clients who have lost 40 lbs or more through our programs. As I listened to their successful weight loss journeys, I noticed some definite patterns emerge that I would like to share with you.

Here’s what’s working best for those who have lost significant amounts of weight:

1. Food journaling. Nearly everyone I talked to uses a food journal to log in their daily food intake or comes back to journaling on a regular basis. Most use because of its ease of use and large database of food.

2. Drastically cutting back on sugar and processed carb intake. Some have a rule that they don’t eat after 7 pm which keeps them away from the dangerous foods, while others just make sure that food never enters the house.

3. Changing the way they spend their free time. We have a few husband wife teams that are part of the program and one of these teams has lost close to 80 lbs together. The coolest part of this type of transformation is the drastic change in activity levels that comes with the weight loss. This couples’ vehicle is now spotted around town with kayaks on top and bikes on the back. I bet if you told them last summer this is what their bodies and vehicle would look like, they would have laughed in disbelief! Now they are entering 5Ks and fun runs together and just live a totally different, more active lifestyle.

4. They are ready to change. This is a huge one. Just because someone signs up for K2 and invests in the program doesn’t mean they are ready or willing to do what it takes to be successful. Anyone can say they want to lose weight and get in shape, but if they aren’t in a place in their life where they know they need the change and are willing to do the work it’ll take to get there, chances are not great that they will follow through with the hard work it entails. Successful K2ers know they need to change their lifestyles and are willing to do the hard work it takes to get there.

In order to ensure we have people in our Killer Kurves program who are fully ready to commit, we have an application process for entrance into K2. Killer Kurves is such a time intensive program for our trainers and staff, we want to make sure we are making an impact on those people who are truly ready for a lifestyle change.

5. Those who lose massive amounts of weight don’t strive to be perfect. Instead, they are working hard at making more healthy choices than unhealthy, and when they do stumble and make poor choices, they come back to the group for support, help, and encouragement. In other words, they realize getting to a healthy weight is a journey that will not always be perfect or smooth, but that consistency will get them to their destination!

6. BONUS! The #1 thing my clients who have lost significant amounts of weight all attributed to their success… the awesome support of the Killer Kurves community. It is really hard to explain in words what this community is – it is only truly understood when experienced.

Think of K2 almost like a family – a family that is all striving to be healthier, happier, and more positive together. There are no discouraging words, no sabotaging when people start to see results, no bringing ice cream into bed, and no weird looks or comments when one of us signs up for a sprint tri or mud run. Just high fives, hugs, support and praise.

Another way to think of this Killer Kurves community is like a frat or sorority, minus the drinking and partying. Instead of a Friday night drinking fest, it might be a Friday night group bike ride, or a Saturday morning at the farmers market. Instead of a movie night with candy and unhealthy popcorn, we hold a movie night watching a documentary on a health related topic, with healthy snacks provided and a discussion to follow.

This community is why Killer Kurves has become the successful program it is today. Plus, our trainers have lost 50 or more lbs themselves to qualify to teach K2, so you know they have truly walked in your shoes and understand your journey.

Our M/W/F session sold out even before we opened up any spots, but we still have openings in our T/Th/F spots – although a couple slots have already been taken by those on our waiting list. Sessions are designed to hold only 20 or so participants to ensure each person gets the individualized attention they need.

This program WILL sell out, don’t wait another minute to start your journey. You deserve to have all the energy, joy, and confidence you desire! Killer Kurves can help you achieve your desires!

In the K2 community we do a lot of social things together outside of class. At one of these events, I met a husband of a woman who has been part of our K2 program. She has lost close to 40 lbs this year. He pulled me aside and looked me straight in the eye as he got pretty emotional. He said he wanted to thank me for helping to create K2.  He explained that his wife has struggled with her weight her entire adult life and he has never seen her stick with a program as long as she has with K2. She has never seen such dramatic results, most of which have nothing to do with weight loss. He told me K2 has dramatically changed their relationship along with the entire family’s relationships with each other.

I just got goose bumps writing this, thinking back to that conversation. I almost started to cry as he shared with me. All I could do was thank him, and let him know I really had little to do with the program’s creation. Liz, his wife’s trainer and co-creator of the program, the fellow K2 family members, and most especially his wife herself, who has worked so incredibly hard – they are the real heroes and the people who need to be thanked.

If you are in the Madison area and are ready to start your journey, or be supported in the middle of our journey, click here now and get started. This specific program requires you to have a BMI of 30 or greater. I never really struggled with my weight, I just ignored it…for 20 years.

By | Behavior Change, Health, Killer Kurves, Mindset, Moms, Mothers, Nutrition, Transformations, Uncategorized

Today I want to share with you a story of a woman named Jeanne. She was your typical middle aged woman – overweight, sedentary, hated exercise and she was losing a part of her past self. She began her journey of transformation with just one decision.

Here is Jeanne’s story…

“I never really struggled with my weight; I just ignored it . . . for 20 years.

I thought of myself as a healthy eater, making all the family meals from scratch – never from a box or a soup can. I enjoyed cooking and I was proud of my culinary skills. If I had any challenge with eating at all, it was that I loved good food too much and often didn’t know when to stop.

It was my lack of exercise, I knew, that was killing me, or likely would. As a communications professional and graphic designer, I have always held sedentary desk jobs. And while it wasn’t such a big deal early in my career, my steady weight gain and lack of energy had clearly escalated in my mid-40s, to the point where I was tipping the scale at just over 190 lbs.

I had a lot of excuses for not moving. I hated exercise. Hated sweating. With a full time job and a family to manage, I didn’t have time to go to a gym. I was just one of those people who was meant to be fat. Wide hips ran in my family. This is me – accept me for who I am!

At the same time, I longed to be thinner, healthier. And I was acutely aware that menopause was just around the corner. If I didn’t start doing something soon to build up some muscle, I’d lose what little I had left.

There wasn’t any one thing that finally motivated me to join FMFL. It was a perfect storm of things. A photo taken at a company holiday party. A favorite sweater that was relegated to the “some day” pile. My 12-year-old daughter’s eyes when I turned down her request to join her in a 5K. The fact that the “outer” me no longer bore any resemblance to the smart, sassy and fabulous “inner” me that I knew I was.

I had two good friends who had already been a part of the Killer Kurves program for a number of months when, around the first of the year, they posted a testimonial video on Facebook describing their successes. I took one look at that video and started to cry. I loved these gals, and I was so proud of what they had accomplished. They looked fantastic! Knowing they’d have my back, I didn’t give it a second thought. I just went directly to the Killer Kurves website and signed up. Just like that. And then I went home and told my family I was doing this . . . for me.

It was honestly the best knee-jerk decision I’ve ever made.

I hit the ground running, attending boot camp three times a week and adopting some healthy eating habits I had never considered before: reading labels; eating clean; eliminating enriched flour, corn oil, processed soy and added sugar; reducing alcohol; fasting after 7 p.m. I never felt that I was denying myself, I just made better choices and substantially reduced portion sizes.

I’ve had beautiful support from my family, friends and co-workers. On boot camp mornings, my husband gets up early in the morning with me when he could easily lie in bed at least another hour. And my daughter is helping me train for our first 5K together at the end of the summer.

The support I’ve received from the Killer Kurves community at FMFL is beyond awesome! We understand each other and have each other’s backs. If you don’t show up for class, you’re missed and we’ll let you know about it. It’s a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where we truly “come as we are.” And most mornings that means bed head and half-opened eye lids. By the end of class, we’re fueled up and ready to tackle the day.

And then there’s Liz, our trainer extraordinaire! She is always positive and caring and, having succeeded in her own weight loss journey, truly understands the challenges we face. Somehow she manages to keep boot camp fun and fresh, while pushing us in directions we didn’t know we could go. In the 24 weeks I’ve been a part of Killer Kurves, we have never done the same routine twice. Never. Who knew you could do so many moves with a Swiss ball?

After six months of attending boot camp three times a week and adopting some pretty simple eating rules, I’ve lost 23 lbs. — that’s nearly one pound a week! I’ve said goodbye to my old frumpy closet and hello to a more fabulous one. Even the outfits I was saving for “some day” had to find new homes. For the first time in a very long time, I’m looking forward to wearing summer clothes. My husband likes to show me off. And my daughter hugs me and tells me how proud she is of me.

I don’t have any specific goals for my weight loss. My intention is to be healthier, wherever that takes me. I will continue to maintain an active lifestyle and put clean healthy and tasty fuel into my body.

Most importantly, I will love me. Cuz I’m still smart, sassy and fabulous!”

Congratulations, Jeanne and thank you for sharing your transformation with us!
