In late 2013, I was able to meet and get to know one of the most inspirational moms I have come across the past year. Her name is Dani and she joined our Fit Moms For Life 6 Week Challenge with her mom at the Transformation Center in Madison. The program consists of home DVD workouts, recipes and menu plans, weekly reflection in our journal, small group accountability and then large group community meeting (with me), once per week.

Dani came in as a newer mom, who just didn’t believe in herself very much. You could see it in her voice and her body language. She used alcohol on a daily basis to cope with things and didn’t feel confident in her body. She followed the program, showed up to the meetings, participated fully and in the 6 weeks lost about 17 lbs (2 pants sizes), and dropped 5 more in the next two weeks to lose a total of 22 lbs between Thanksgiving and New Year, the hardest time to lose weight.

But to be honest I don’t really care if she lost a pound…The changes she has experienced internally which then comes out in how she handles herself to the world is staggering. I wish you could have seen it, like a light switch being turned on with her eyes opened to how amazing and how capable she is to do whatever she would like with her life. Dani is a completely different person then when she came in. She smiles more, stands taller with her shoulders back, has an excitement in her voice, and her skin just glows.

She is now continuing her journey as a member at our Fit Moms Transformation Center and taking advantage of our free childcare we offer.

I can’t say enough good things about her, and it makes the long hours myself and my team work at creating the 6 Week Challenge and the Transformation Center all worth it.  Dani, I can’t wait to continue to watch your progress and how you are going to continue to inspire those you live and work with. We will be here to help.
