To me warmups are like flossing my teeth. It takes time, and I don’t really enjoy it, but there are definitely benefits to it that I want. I am very guilty of going to the gym and just doing a couple pushups, a few squats, and some arm circles and I declare myself fully warmed up.
Improper warm-ups can increase injuries as well as decrease your physical performance. While I was traveling to Toronto I spent some time with “Ninja Dan,” who is a good friend of mine and one of the top fitness professionals in Toronto and in Canada. One of the things he specializes in is his warm-ups, so I asked him to share with us a few of his favorite warm-up moves.
Try these before a workout, or anytime you are feeling a little tired, sore, or tight, this will give you the boost you need to continue through your day. Sorry for the shaky camera skills, my body was shaking from the workout. 🙂
